The Guinness world record for the world's largest knitting needles is 11 feet, 5.8 inches long and 3.15 inches in diameter and is held by Ingrid Wagner of the United Kingdom, who used them to knit a 10-by-10-foot tension square at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle upon Tyne on March 10, 2008.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most needles threaded blindfolded in one minute; it is 44 and was achieved by Wan Fuquan (China) on the set of Lo Show dei Record in Rome, Italy.
Bolin said he made the knitting needles and crochet hook for Huisinga, who is the cousin of his wife, in an attempt to attract more people to her store and to Casey.
"I'm hoping it well help draw more people to her shop, but also I feel great for the community because it's something they can share and show people in Casey," Bolin said.
It took Bolin a total of 60 hours to make the knitting needles and crochet hook, Journal Gazette & Times-Courier reported.
In addition to the wooden knitting needles and a crochet hook being measured on Monday, Huisinga also had to prove each crafting tool worked so she knitted and crocheted a 10-by-10-foot tension square, gauge swatch with each tool.
