The Guinness world record for the largest straw hat measures 6.65 m (21 ft 9 in) in diameter and is 2.6 m (8 ft 6 in) high. The hat was made by Atalia Bis & Partners Company in Kozieglowy, Poland.
Guinness World Records also recognized the largest Santa hat; it measures 15.47 metres (50 ft 9 in) long and 8.23 metres (27 ft) wide and was created by children from the Chill Youth Club (all Norway).
Promoting the brand's Fly Your Own Flag campaign, the mosaic encourages consumers to make a statement with their New Era products.
The Guinness World Records adjudicator had the arduous task of individually counting each of the mosaic's hats in order to determine the World Record set.
