The Guinness world record for the longest Riverdance line was achieved by 652 participants at an event organised by Jig: The Irish Dancing Documentary (USA) at Opryland Hotel, Nashville, Tennessee, USA, on 3 July 2011.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest single line of dancers; it consisted of 2,569 participants performing the "Hokey Pokey" dance and was achieved by Walkway Over The Hudson (USA) in Poughkeepsie, New York, USA.

The performance came as part of The Gathering, a campaign designed to bring tourists to Ireland from all over the world who have some kind of cultural or ancestral link to the country.

And it was led by none other than New Yorker Jean Butler, who alongside Michael Flatley led the first ever show of Riverdance during the interval of the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest.
