Largest Twist Dance: Casselton sets world record (PICS & VIDEOS) Casselton, ND, USA --
Just before the Cass County Summerfest Grand Parade, 2,788 people participated in a giant twist dance, filling out two entire streets and setting the new world record for the Largest twist dance,
according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.
The Guinness world record for the largest Twist dance was achieved by 1,706 participants at an event organised by WSYD-AM Radio in Mount Airy, North Carolina, USA.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest mambo dance was set by 3,868 people who danced to Pérez Prado's Mambo No. 5 for five minutes at Palau Sant Jordi, Barcelona, Spain.
The Cass County Summerfest Parade Committee announces that 2,788 people participated in the World Largest Twist Dance prior to the start of the Cass County Summerfest Grand Parade.
The previous world record recognized by World Record Academy is 2,158 from Mandan, North Dakota.
Registration began at 9am with twisters hitting the streets of Casselton along the parade route at 10:55.
Due to the large number of late arrivers, the event was delayed from 11am to 11:05.
Participants from 18 states and the District of Columbia were in attendance and did the twist for 5 minutes while emergency vehicles and emcee stands broadcast the live feed from KFGO radio in Fargo, North Dakota.
From parents dancing with their infants to a 98-year-old man Twisting with the best of them, Greg Kempel, Summerfest's parade chairman said the only word he can think of to describe the event is multigenerational.
The world record attempt was sponsored by: Bremer Bank, Maple River Winery, Subway, Wangler Food, Xtreme Printing, Park Company Realtors, Casselton Drug, Maple River Distillery, City of Casselton.
