The Guinness world record for the largest can mosaic consisted of 101,616 drink cans in an event organised by youth volunteers from the Yew Tee Community Club Youth Executive Committee at their club in Singapore.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the Largest Can Pyramid - 30 mins, set by The Malaysia Can team, consisting of students from the INTI College Subang Jaya, who constructed a pyramid consisting of 9,455 empty aluminum beverage cans in 24 minutes at the Midvalley Mega Mall in Kuala Lumpur.
"Receiving confirmation that we set the world record for the largest lunchbox is a thrill, and it also comes at an important time as CouponsforChange.org is partnering with Feeding America to help give Hunger Action Month a louder voice," said Michele Boal, Chief Philanthropy Officer of CouponsforChange.org & Co-Founder of Coupons.com Incorporated.
"Our goal in building the lunchbox was to raise awareness of childhood hunger that exists—many times unnoticed—in our community. If just 10 percent of the 3.5 billion coupons used each year came from CouponsforChange.org, we could provide over 100 million meals to kids struggling with domestic hunger every year."
The unveiling of the giant lunchbox was designed to raise the awareness of domestic childhood hunger in the U.S. which affects over 16 million children every year.
The new philanthropic website empowers people to give back even though they may not have the time or resources to do so.
Simply by using coupons which help families stretch their own dollars for everyday grocery and household items, the website empowers consumers to help fill lunchboxes and grocery bags for those who are struggling.
As consumers print and use coupons from CouponsforChange.org, a contribution is made to Feeding America, the nation's largest hunger-relief organization.
