Most simultaneous high-fives: Zappos.Com sets world record (Video)
HENDERSON, NV, USA--During the second half of the West Coast Conference (WCC) Men's Championship game, 3504 fans gathered at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas and simultaneously high-fived each other
- setting for Zappos.com the new world record for the Most People High-Fiving Simultaneously, according to World Record Academy: http://www.worldrecordacademy.com/.
The previous Guinness world record for the most people performing a high five simultaneously is 2,176, achieved by the crowd at Skærgårds Music & Mission Festival in Risoya, Tvedestrand, Norway.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most high fives in 24 hours by an individual: 9,325, achieved by Roy Tuscany (USA) in San Francisco, California, USA.
"Bringing all of the fans together to participate and share in the record-breaking attempt during the WCC championships is definitely something that will long live in Zappos infamy. It's been really fun and exciting to create a sense of community and camaraderie at the game," said Matt Burchard, Sr. Director of Marketing, Zappos.com.
As part of the record-breaking attempt, fans were given "world record" wristbands as they entered the arena, and school mascots and the cheer team from Gonzaga & St. Mary got the crowd stoked to participate with a quick run-down and demonstration of what a proper high-five is.
