Longest spring roll: Indonesia sets world record (PICS)
SEMARANG, Indonesia--To celebrate the anniversary of Semarang, 285 chefs from Semarang, Bali, Makasar, Bandung, Bekasi, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Salatiga, and Magelang cooked a 465 meter fried spring roll (lumpia) in front of Amaris Hotel - setting the new world record for the Longest spring roll,
according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness world record for the longest spring roll measured 435.36 m (1,428.34 ft) and was made by members of the Roll for Relief campaign at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest sausage roll: 111.11 m (364 ft 6.4 in), achieved by King Pie in Faerie Glen, South Africa.
The World's Longest Spring Roll needed 980 kilograms of bamboo shoot, 15,000 spring roll skins, and five frying pans.
After being fried, the spring roll was set on top of a table from DP Mall until Amaris Hotel. The idea was initiated by Association Event Organizer Company (AEOC) and then welcomed by Indonesian Chef Association (ICA).
"It was cooked by 285 chefs from Semarang, Bali, Makasar, Bandung, Bekasi, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Salatiga, and Magelang," the Chairman of ICA Central Java-Yogyakarta, Fajar Subeni, said.

The Longest Spring Roll in the World was sold to people using coupons. It was 10,000 IDR for every 25-cm spring roll.
Semarang is a city on the north coast of the island of Java, Indonesia. It is the capital and largest city of the province of Central Java.
It has an area of 305.17 km² and a population of approximately 1.5 million people, making it Indonesia's 9th most populous city.
