Largest shawarma: world record set by Adnan Tartan (VIDEO)
Karbala, Iraq -- At the end of 2017—during Iraq's religious Arbaeen festival, Adnan Tartan made a shawarma that weighed three tons, thus setting the new world record for the Largest shawarma, according to the World Record Academy.

In 2016, he cooked a shawarma that weighed two-and-a-half tons, and at the end of 2017—during Iraq's religious Arbaeen festival—he went one better, shooting for three.
All of the chicken placed on the spit had been meticulously weighed, while video evidence of the record attempt was gathered by a local religious television station, the Newsweek reports.
The Guinness World Records world record for the largest display of rice dumplings contained 34,056 dumplings and was made by Towngas Rice Dumplings for the Community (China) at Hong Kong International Trade & Exhibition Centre in Hong Kong on 10 June 2007.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest rice mosaic; it is 1,798 sq.m (19364.14 sq. ft) and was achieved by Chinese Taoism Folk Culture Association (Chinese Taipei) at Changhua City, Chinese Taipei on 8 November 2014. The current Guinness World Record record for the world's biggest shawarma is held by the Dubai Shopping Festival, where that weighed in at 1.85 tons of boneless chicken was cooked.
"Everything in Karbala at this time is a world record: The amount of water that is distributed, the amount of fruit, the number of tents mounted. But all of these things have to be quantifiable," Adnan Tartan said.
