The Guinness World Records' record for the largest cup of ice cream weighed 8,865 lb (4,021 kg) and was made by Baskin-Robbins at their headquarters in Canton, Massachusetts, USA.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest ice cream cone; it measured 2.81 m (9 ft 2.63 in) in height and was achieved by Mirco Della Vecchia and Andrea Andrighetti (both Italy) during an event organised by Rimini Fiera.
The sweet treat was made using 50kg of fresh British strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, plus a generous serving of double British cream, the Metro News reported.
Tesco fruit buyer, Paul Jones, explained: 'It's great seeing so many strawberries in one gigantic bowl whipped together with cream to create this British classic.
'We're selling 20 per cent more than this time last year and the giant Eton mess was finished in half the time expected.'
