Most People Wearing Full Team Kit: Australia sets world record (VIDEO) LONDON, UK -- 935 Australian ex-pats and supporters wearing the green and gold of the Aussie Olympic Team gathered outside the Windmill Pub in London and set the new world record for the Most people wearing full team kit,
according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.
That broke the previous Guinness world record for the most people wearing the same full team kit, set by 537 people for an event organised by SWATCH in Stare Jablonki, Poland.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people wearing costume masks: 27,080 - organised by Angels Baseball (USA) at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, USA.
Organiser Louisa Galligani said the event was spread purely by word of mouth, and staff estimated by the end of the night they'd turned away another 2000 people.
"We didn't budget for anything bigger than 1000," she said.
They were lured by the prospect of a free yellow t-shirt and dark shorts, a sausage and a soft drink.
The world record attempt, held late at night London time to make the morning television shows Down Under, took almost an hour to set up, with the crowd herded into a "G'day" shape.
Commonwealth Bank, Australia's largest bank, organized and outfitted the Aussie fans for the world record breaking attempt.
