  Longest marathon slicing meat: Gregorio Perez breaks Guinness World Records' record (VIDEO)


  
Valladolid, Spain -- Gregorio Perez managed to break the previous ham-slicing Guinness World Records' record of 33 hours and three minutes; starting Friday night and continuing until dawn on Sunday, Perez wielded a knife without stopping and carved 36 hams,
setting the new world record for the Longest marathon slicing meat, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.
 Gregorio Pérez, a Spanish man, broke the Guinness World Records' record for the most time spent slicing "Jamón Serrano" in Valladolid, an occasion for which he prepared with a lot of anticipation. Starting on Friday night, and continuing until Sunday, Pérez wielded a knife without stopping and carved 36 hams in 40 hours. With this achievement, he managed to break the previous ham-slicing Guinness World Records' record of 33 hours and 3 minutes, held by another Spaniard.

   The Guinness World Records' record for the longest marathon slicing meat is 33 hr 2 min 12 sec and was achieved by Francisco Javier Aguza Nuñez (Spain) at Caseta Municipal in Zafra, Badajoz, Spain, from 4 to 6 April 2014.
 
  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people slicing meat; it is 162, achieved at an event organised by Antonio Ramos García (Spain) in Benarraba, Spain on 2 March 2014.

    
Spaniard Gregorio Perez on Sunday broke the Guinness record for the most time spent slicing ham, a feat for which he prepared for more than a year and which forced him to lose 21 kilograms (46 pounds).

   Starting Friday night and continuing until dawn on Sunday, Perez wielded a knife without stopping and carved 36 hams.

   He thus managed to break the previous Guinness World Records' ham-slicing record of 33 hours and 3 minutes held by one of his countrymen.

  Part of the sliced hams will be donated to a local non-governmental organization, while the rest will be distributed piece by piece free on Sunday to anyone coming to Valladolid's central square.
